Early Pregnancy Scan:
Which is to be done between 6 to 7 weeks of pregnancy, that means 10 to 15 days after missing your first period.
This is also knowing as Dating Scan.
And this scan is very important scan which confirms the pregnancy.
- It also tells the location of the pregnancy, whether the pregnancy is intra urine or extra urine i;e ectopic pregnancy
- Whether it is a single pregnancy or multiple pregnancies
- Whether the heart beat appeared in the foetal pole.
Note: (The fetal pole is a thickening on the margin of the yolk sac of a fetus during pregnancy.)
NT Scan OR NB Scan
Also known as Early anomaly scan. And this scan is required or done between 11 to 13 weeks of the pregnancy or in the end of the 3rd month.
This scan is also very important to rule out any chromosomal anomaly like down syndrome, trisomy thirteen, or trisomy eighteen.
In this scan as it names NT Scan or nuchal scan or nuchal translucency scan, we measure the thickness of the skin at neck level and also measure the bone level.
Along with nuchal translucency, nasal bone ,other organs like fetal brain, abdomen, limbs, cardiac are also seen in this scan .
Anomaly Scan.
Also known as TIFA Scan or Targeted Imaging Anomaly Scan. This scan helps out to rule out chromosome anomaly as in this scan we check all the body organs of the baby; including foetal brain, fetal heart, fetal abdominal and the fetal limbs.
Any structural anomaly in the baby can be detected in this scan. Other than the anomalies which are detected at this time we also look for blood flows from mother to baby.
Growth Scan
which are done after 27 – 28th weeks of the pregnancy. In this scan we look for the growth of the baby to rule out any fetal growth restriction.
Other than Growth the amount of liquor or the amount of the fluid surrounding the baby is also checked.
